James Zoppe (founder of the American Jousting Alliance) shows Built To Spill just what chivalry means. One of my favorite bands, so making this video was a dream come true. They were kind enough to play a fireside acoustic set for us. Here’s a live recording of Broken Chairs from that night. Kind of sums up the whole experience.
What happens when two band members beat the shit out of each other? Considered too violent for US television, but we still managed to get nominated for the 2006 MVPA “Best Video Produced For Under $25,000″.
Special thanks to Ben Darling for navigating this editorial monstrosity. It won the 2005 MVPA Award for “Best Music Video Produced For Under $25,000″. Isn’t that what all videos cost now?
Live video I made for the band Health. It was shot using the embedded cameras on 13 different Macbook laptops. The location is Materials & Applications, an outdoor gallery on Silverlake Blvd. Much thanks to everyone who was brave enough to let me borrow their laptops.
Making this video was like traveling into the Heart of Darkness, except instead of Vietnam, we were in the Poconos. Nellie split with the label during post-production, so the video never saw the light of day. Unfortunate, because I feel it paints a pretty clear picture of what she was like at the time.
